Where is the best place to vacation in Florida?
Where is the best place to vacation in Florida for a couple in their early 30′s? We won’t be taking any kids and we would look forward to relaxation and a bit of socializing and drinking. Any suggestions for fun, interesting places to visit would be appreciated. Also any recommendations for really good lodging that is reasonably priced would be great, too. I know this is a wide open question, but we are open to about anything as far as suggestions for an overall good Florida vacation. Also important to note…we will be driving from Illinois and plan on having the date of May 9-14 available.
Thanks for the stroke of genius, first responder. Perhaps you might READ the actual question before commenting next time.

Next May, the tourist industry in Florida may be desperate for guests. So presuming that happens, I’d look at one of the high-end hotels in Cocoa Beach (almost calm on the excitement level), Fort Myers Beach (less calm), the beaches at Fort Lauderdale (a bit lively), or even Miami Beach (almost exciting). You may even want to consider one of the resorts located in the Keys, such as Key Largo (calm), Marathon (not so calm), Islamorada (not so calm either), or even Key West (whoa).
Places to visit…old St. Augustine (1 day), Disney or Universal (1 or 2 days), Kennedy Space Center (1 day), South Beach in Miami Beach (1 long expensive night), drive through the Everglades National Park (1 day but mighty hot in May), or just go bar-hopping in Key West.

For drinking any of the clubs downtown would be perfect. As for other fun thing to do and see, Gatorland, NASA, Orlando Speed World are a few. This link gives a review and some other good ideas.http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/2147565/a_long_weekend_in_central_florida.html
