What is a cheap Florida vacation?
I live in West Palm Beach, Florida and am looking for fun things to do in the semi-nearby area. I don’t have a lot of money but I want to do something different. Maybe take a weekend vacation somewhere or even a day trip somewhere cool. Any suggestions? And please don’t suggest Disney World…..way too expensive!

You don’t state your age, so it’s a bit difficult to know what you might enjoy…..
But you are near Delray Beach, have you been there? Do you ever go to Atlantic Avenue? Downtown Delray has a lot of free functions and it’s right on the beach and can be a lot of fun!

Or what about Morikami Japanese Gardens in Delray Beach, have you been there?
It’s beautiful!!! And it costs less than $10.00 to get in.

Hope that gives you some ideas.
Oh, and one more thing….
Did you know about Palm Beach County 100 Anniversary and the places that are giving discounts. Some hotels are offering nights for $19.09 to represent the founding day/year 1909 for Palm Beach County.
Check out this site for discounts….

My fiance and I will be spending a couple nights in Miami pre-cruise in December. We are taking a day and driving down to Key West. The drive is beautiful! You will only need money for gas and some lunch

Actually disney world stocks went way down they have $99 weeks. no joke! You could also go to bush gardens. If you just don’t want to go to a kids place, Go to the keys. Im not sure if theres a bridge near palm beach but you could probably take a ferry or something. Its really pretty. and if kind of isolated so you get a lot of peace.

Well, I don’t know if you would consider these "fun" or not…
Cruise over to the levee on Lake Okeechobee. Catch the view of the lake in mid-morning next to the high bridge in Port Mayaca. It’s quite a sight to see. Then cruise up to Okeechobee City and check out the historical buildings around downtown.
Take A1A and leisurely drive up to Fort Pierce and visit Mel Fisher’s maritime museum with all that treasure from the old galleons.
Head to the other side of the lake and visit downtown Arcadia, especially southbound Hwy 17. It’s something out of the old west. Lots of shops to browse. And while you’re over there, ride down to the old town of Alva. If you get there between 12-2, you’ve got to check out the Alva Museum.
Ride over to Everglades City, which is just off Hwy 52 (Tamiami Trail) just this side of Naples. A dream city established in the 1920′s, it kinda’ never made it to the big-time, but with the antique lights, wide streets, and stilted homes, you can see they were thinking big. If you stay on the main drag through town, it will lead you along a really nice causeway to the tiny fishing community of Chokoloskee. Smallwoods Trading Store is located there…a wealth of old stuff in this trading post of the early 1900′s. And since you’re already close to Marco Island and Naples, you’ll have to go to the beach and watch a sunset over the water.
There’s a lot more. Hit the back roads and explore.
