Tuesday, July 13th, 2010

In its rocky past, South Africa has experienced turmoil and suffering, still, the country is starting to re-invent itself.  As a matter of fact, tourism numbers for South Africa have increased every year for the past ten years.

Flights to South Africa commonly depart in the evening, which means an early morning arrival time.  Most of these flights will land in Johannesburg, nevertheless, a large number of visitors that fly cheap flights to South Africa, end up in Cape Town.  As one of South Africa’s oldest cities, Cape Town offers tourists outstanding restaurants and a thrilling nightlife.

Not many airlines offer service to Africa, consequently, flights tend to book up very quickly.  Despite this, however, you can still manage to find a cheap flight to South Africa if you bear a few things in mind.  Certainly, booking early is at the top of this list.  In fact, you will want to book that flight to South Africa at least two months ahead of time to ensure good prices.

As a land of varying climates and diverse pastimes, the best time to schedule a cheap flight to South Africa really depends, on what you intend to do.  Do not forget that in the southern hemisphere, seasons are reversed, which means summer falls between November and February.  If seeing wild game is your goal, schedule your visit between August and October.  However, if you prefer whale watching, mid-June to October is the best time to catch Southern Right Whales, while August through December is ideal for Humpbacks.

Several of the budget airline companies in South Africa operate regionally, so using a regional hub could well save you money on your fare.  There are ten domestic and International airports in South Africa, all of which are run by ACSA, or Airports Company South Africa.  You will also find six different airlines that offer domestic flights, and quite a few charter services.  The airlines offer different pricing packages and tours, so carefully planning your trip will help you make the most of your time and money.

Your passport must be valid for thirty days past your stay, and make sure you have an onward ticket.

The options for flying to South Africa cheaply are limited, but if you plan ahead, you can certainly fly cost effectively.

Tips For Travelers

Saturday, July 3rd, 2010

Travel isn’t always relaxing. Spending time in airports isn’t the way most people would choose to spend an afternoon. Whether you’re headed to your parents for the holidays or going on a last minute business trip, traveling is frustrating at the best of times. Packing can be stressful to. When you’re waiting at the gate, you might be wondering what will be available at your destination and what you should leave behind. Last minute packing is the worst; running around at the last minute to make sure you have everything you need.

Packing may well be the most important part of your travel.  You don’t want to leave anything behind that you might need later, nor do you want to be stuck at the airport repacking and rearranging after a miserable trip through security.  One of the sacred rules of airline travel today:  you cannot bring liquids past the security checkpoint.  This includes beverages, toothpaste, liquid deodorant, lotion, lip gloss, aerosols and much more.  Many of us are so used to packing these items in our carry-on luggage we don’t think twice about it and only after your bag passes through the x-ray machine and the security officer rifles through your bag and confiscates your Country Apple Bath and Body works lotion does the reality set in—and they’re not giving it back!

Packing is an especially important part of your travel. You don’t want to forget something essential. When you’re going through security, you need to follow procedures that may leave you digging through your purse or carry-on when you’re in a rush to catch a flight. The first tip about flight security is paying attention to the rules about carrying liquids through security. This not only includes beverages, but toothpaste, liquid deodorant, lotion, lip gloss, aerosols, and much more. Many people are used to packing these items in their carry-on bags without thinking about the restrictions. Restricted items that might be confiscated by the security officers may not be returned!

To avoid losing the new lotion that you got for Christmas, pack larger bottles of liquids in checked bags. Security does allow a one quart, clear, zipper-top bag with liquids in amounts smaller than three ounces (but no aerosols) to be carried with you on the plane.  Remember, pack small, travel size liquids in a clear Zip-Loc bag and pack all other liquids in your checked luggage. Think carefully about your shoes. You’ll be required to take them off at the security checkpoint. Don’t wear shoes that are difficult to remove because this will slow down the security process. Wear easy to remove sneakers or flip-flops. If you need to, you can carry the shoes you want to change into in your carry-on bag. Being well prepared will help you avoid other passengers getting impatient with you.

If you reserved your ticket online you may have to print out your ticket at the check-in station.  Otherwise your first stop is the ticket line.  While these kiosks are extremely convenient they do require that you know what you’re doing.  Remember to bring along both your record locator, usually a 13-digit number and your confirmation number as well your driver’s license or other identification.   Once you’ve found and printed or received your ticket you’ll have to check your bag or bags at the ticket counter and show you’re ID.  Only then are you ready to go through the security checkpoint.

The security checkpoint is not as bad as you think: it moves fast and as long as you know what to do it runs smoothly.  When you arrive you will need to present the security person with your ID and your boarding past.  You must then remove your shoes and place these, any electronic devices larger than your hand and your zip-lock bags containing liquids, in containers and then place your carry-on items on the conveyor belt that takes your items through an x-ray machine.  Meanwhile you pass through a metal detector.  Once you’ve successfully passed through the security checkpoint and collected your items all that’s left is to board the plane.

It is a good idea to gather information for trips from several sources. This prevents you from having to worry whether or not you have everything you need when the time comes. I have become interested in gathering travel tips as they have proven to be very handy. I hope my tips may help you the same way they did me; good luck and have fun!

Holiday Travel

Wednesday, June 9th, 2010

If you are ready to embark on the trip of your life for the upcoming holiday season, but fear that you may be forgetting essentials, there is no need to worry. With a little bit of advice you are sure to get things done correctly. Proper preparation is important whether you are visiting family or treating everyone to an exciting retreat. Therefore, I shall offer a few tips to ensure you and your friends or family have a great time on your vacation. One of the more important tips is to ascertain when peak travel times are and avoid it like your life depended on it. There are two problems that come with traveling during peak times: 1) everything from plane tickets to hotels, rental cars and more will be significantly more expensive and 2) you will encounter the crowds that cause these dates to be known as peak travel times. If you can, it is suggested that you arrange for your vacation time to begin a little bit before these times so that you may steer clear of the crowds. Additionally, you should plan to return a little bit earlier, by doing this you will almost certainly be able to obtain better deals and shun the crowds and aggravation associated with traveling during peak times.

Today travel is made a lot easy by way of the internet. Sitting at home you get the best rate of flight tickets and also a comparison of rates on various deals from flights to accommodation. Try a Google search on your destination or other travel oriented sites like make my trip.com, Cheaptickets.com. SideStep.com is a good choice as it gives you a various choice of flight travel with the rates.

If traveling to an area where a hotel room is required, my advice is to locate all inclusive packages. You may locate excellent places to stay offering 3- and 5- night packages that include activities and meals. If a car is needed, you should attempt to have the price for one included in your package. If you are precise and early when making the arraignments, the higher the likelihood will be that you have a good outcome.

There is one holiday travel tip that will greatly reduce your stress level. I know because I’ve experienced being in the waiting room waiting to board the first of two connections, only to hear an airline attendant announce that there will be a delay exceeding an hour due to a major snow storm. Upon hearing this information, you immediately begin to think of you connecting flight scheduled to leave half an hour after the first arrives. You are aware that pre-boarding begins 30 minutes before the flight is scheduled to leave to ensure it leaves on time. That’s when you begin to ask “What am I going to do if my connecting flight takes off before the first one lands?” or “Are there more flights available?” And without a doubt, the last thought will be “I should have scheduled a later connecting flight.”

To avoid such anxiety my best advice would be to allow at least two hours gap before your next connecting flight. See that you get you boarding pass for your connecting flight too at the time of checking in one your first leg of the journey. This saves you time at the next airport. It is better to wait in the airport and read a book rather than be anxious that you will miss your next flight.

Today traveling by air has a lot of restriction. Be sure to contact your travel agent or the airport staff to find out exactly what you can and cannot carry in your hand luggage. As far as I know you can carry, no liquid, nail cutter, food item, scissor, needle etc. They are extremely strict. Please take great care while packing. When in doubt please ask.

One security measure to stick with is to pack all liquids and gels bigger than 3 ml in the bags you will check.  There are signs up everywhere stating that you cannot carry liquids and gels through the security checkpoint.  This includes lotions, toothpaste, baby oil, aerosol hairsprays, perfume bottles, bottled water and other items.  If illegal items are found at the checkpoint, they will be confiscated.  Just pack them away and meet them at baggage claim when you get to your destination.  You are allowed to carry liquids and gels 3 ml and under in zip-top clear bags so you’re not completely bereft.  Best travel tip: follow the rules.  You, your family, airport security and everyone waiting in line behind you will be much happier for it.

Tips On Preventing Jet Lag

Thursday, June 3rd, 2010

Many commuters seem to be able to rest without difficulty on an airplane, and more so on journeys of longer durations. This implies that you would feel refreshed upon your arrival. This is a point to your advantage, provided that you reach your target either in the late morning or afternoon. Difficulties crop up if you reach your target venue in the night and feel refreshed but are unable to go to sleep. The soundest plan for you would then be to opt for aromatherapy that has calming oil to relax you, including lavender. This assists you to de-stress and rest and get ready for a calm and restful night.

There is a saying that prevention is better than cure. Therefore if you have to prevent jet lag it is better that you take a good night’s sleep the day before you plans to travel. By this you will feel fresh and your body will get adjusted to the changes that you will have to go through once you reached your destination namely time change or day and night change. Without good preparation by resting, you will start to feel irritated and your body will start aching, which will prevent you from having a good rest once you arrived at your destination. Sleeping is not enough to get your body’s energy levels recharged. You should do some exercises to tire your body down so that when you arrive at your destination, you can get a good night’s rest.

When you are traveling by plane, remember to drink lots of water and fruit juices. Shun the alcoholic beverages if at all possible. Your goal is to prevent dehydration. If you must drink alcohol, drink one glass of water for each alcoholic beverage you consume. Aside from water and juices, energy drinks will also help keep you safely hydrated on your trip. These fluids help maintain the appropriate balance of minerals in your body and ensure that your have enough vim and vigor to keep you going for the duration of your extended trip.

The best way to avoid jet lag is to prevent its onset. Exercising as soon as you reach your destination can help. By walking around town or the hotel where you are staying, will help to prevent jet lag. You could even climb the stairs of your hotel or jog around to increase your heart beat rate. When you get your heart pumping faster, your body will store the extra energy and thus helping you to adjust to the changing light conditions very easily.

The best way to assure a good rest is to have a schedule. Prepare yourself beforehand if you plan to travel by air for a few hours. Alter your daily schedule such that you modify your habit of eating, sleeping, exercises and wake up little more or less the same time everyday the week prior to travel. Your body will thus set into a new time pattern, helping you to adapt to the new schedule at your destination place with ease and comfort. If you do not follow a regular pattern previously, then start practicing today or two weeks before the journey.

When you take a short holiday and then return home, combating jet lag seems to be a major issue with so many of us. A great way to beat this problem is to simply stick to your normal routine, as you would while at home. Let your watch remain on ‘home time’ and continue to eat, sleep or exercise as per home timing. This way, when you are back after a short stint, you can take up where you left off with no body readjustment issues.

The best, cheapest, easiest and convenient method to fly anywhere in the world is to choose Cheap Flights South Africa since you no know about jet lag and how to act upon it.

Explore The Wonder And Beauty Of South Africa

The Cape Peninsula is considered one of the most beautiful travel destinations in the world. The peninsula is defined by its magnificent mountainous range and is located in the dazzlingly isolated southern Atlantic.

The 11 Languages of South Africa’s Strong Identity – South Africa has a unique colonial history that carries over to the present day, and sets it apart from the rest of Africa.  Travelers to South Africa are often drawn to the interesting multicultural nature of a modern country that still confronts racial issues from its past head on.  Dutch sailors and settlers occupied the country for a large part of the 17th and 18th centuries.  They imported slaves from India, Madagascar, and Indonesia to make up for a shortage of skilled labor.

The descendants of the interracial marriages that occurred subsequently now make up a large population of the present day Western Cape, and are known as “Cape Malays.”  These Cape Malays displaced many of the indigenous Xhosa and Bantu peoples.  Ultimately, the British colonized South Africa when the Dutch were no longer able to continue fighting battles against resistance from the natives.

The Victoria and Alfred Waterfront is the center of life for the City Bowl. The vibrant waterfront Mecca is not only a historic site, but is a shopping haven with offerings that include markets, craftworks, theaters, and live entertainment. Included in the area are the Telkom Exploratorium and the impressive Two Oceans Aquariums.

Robben Island, which is just a short boat trip from the waterfront, is one South Africa’s foremost historic sites. Originally the Dutch East Indian Company (VOC), used it victual ling station. Later it was used a leper colony and asylum. Next it was used by South Africa’s military. In 1960, the Department of Corrections began to use it to house prisoners. It is famous for being the prison home for over twenty years to the former president of South Africa, Nelson Mandela.

In the city’s center is South Africa’s oldest building the Castle of Good Hope, but surrounding it are museums and art galleries. The city of Bo-Kaap is known for both its cobbled streets and for housing the first mosque in South Africa, while the oldest homestead and wine farm, Groot Contantia offers a cultural contrast. Through the Constantia wine route, Groot Constantia is tied to estates in both Helderberg and Durbanville by history and the vine.

The hills of Table Mountain or Lion’s Head, located only a short trip from the entertainment of Century City offer multiple areas to walk and climb. Those full of energy and who want something different can examine the animal and plant life of Cape Floral Kingdom. The trails lead to many areas such as; the Silvermine or Tygerberg Nature Reserves, Newlands Forest, the Cape of Good Hope or Helderberg Nature Reserves, as well as other wildlife areas within the city.

Thursday, April 15th, 2010

One of the most attractive cities to visit in the USA is Charlotte. This is a rapidly growing city, but not one that is well-known for its tourist attractions, though it certainly has some of the most interesting places to see. The language that is spoken and understood by everyone here is English, as a result of which communication is easy. Local people here are quite hospitable and offer a pleasant travel for those come to visit this city.

Charlotte can be reached very easily from all corners of the world because of its good connectivity. The city is well connected by means of air, train and road. The airport, known as Charlotte Douglas International Airport is located near the Billy Graham Parkway, which is towards the west end of the town. The airport receives flights from most of the domestic and international carriers like the Air Canada and Lufthansa. Most of the traffic here is of domestic carriers. Hence flying is considered the fastest and best means of transport, in order to reach the city. The airport provides all the basic amenities to the passengers in transit, like a quick bite at a reasonable rate and amenities like restrooms are also available. For those who want to remain connected, free WiFi is also available .Moreover taxis and buses are easily available at the exit gate of the airport, for commuting.

If you are interested in visiting this city, it’s important to block your tickets in advance as this way you can get the benefit of lower air fares.  However, in case you need to travel without such prior booking, you can still find flights to the city, though you might have to pay a higher price. You can find many airlines flying daily to the city at various timings, so there is a lot of flexibility when it comes to which airline to take and also the travel timings. Furthermore, trips to the city by flight are short and there is no dearth of airlines that caters to passenger traffic here.

Getting around the city is easy as there is a really good public transportation system in place. You can get to any point in the city quite easily from the airport. This is how you can get cheap international flights

Wednesday, March 31st, 2010

As there are so many international flights available, deciding which one to choose as to being the cheaper priced, and with which airline you would be getting a bargain, is a very difficult one. You should have some idea as to how to go about this. So, check out these tips, which would tell you what should be done to help you save money and time, the next time you decide to go on an international trip.

The best method to avail of the cheaper airfares is by planning your holidays well before the schedule. This would ensure that you have sufficient time to compare the various offers of the various airlines and thus end up with the lower airfares. Planning at least three months in advance before the next trip would be quite ideal and would allow you to save the maximum possible amount of your money on airfare expenses.

Whenever you use a search engine to find options, for getting cheaper international flight tickets, remember; never buy tickets from the first travel agency that has been in the list. Always offered prices of all travel agencies should be compared before concluding to one. It is better to visit websites, which display a price comparison list offered by different airlines. Best flights offers such facility for the flights across South Africa, with cheapest prices.

It is better to book your flights through a flight agent, because they can give guidance and even give you some other routes, which you could book at cheaper rates. Airfares will be costlier during the holidays, as many people travel during that time. So it is better not to travel during holidays, but after.

Planes flying non-stop directly to the destination often charge higher price than those with break journeys. After getting in touch with a travel agent, if you believe you have found cheaper tickets online, inform the agent about this, he may get the tickets for you at much lesser price than the one you considered by speaking to the travel consolidator.

Avoid booking your tickets very early, like ten months in advance before the scheduled date, as ten months is a very huge period wherein there could be many changes in between. Also make sure to take out insurance on your ticket. If something unexpected happens then at least you can still get a refund.

Should you not be set on a date for travel, you should check websites on a daily basis to look for the best price available. The airline industry is very competitive, and with a bit of research, you can find some very good deals on international flights. Taking time to compare websites and their offers can save you a lot of money on your next holiday.

Monday, December 28th, 2009

Flights from UK to Cape Town South Africa are widely available. You can book flights departing from any of the following airports. London (LON), London Heatthrow, Glasgow, Manchester, Newcastle and Birmingham. All flights departing from these airports can take you to Cape Town International Airport. Most of these flights will however have at least one stop over before reaching the Cape.

Examples of flights to book are The KLM, which flies via Amsterdam, The South African airways, which has one stop in Johannesburg; Virgin Atlantic which has a single stop over in in Johannesburg. Another option that you have is Air France, however it makes two stops i.e. flies to Cape Town via Paris De Gaulle and Johannesburg. Tips To Find Cheap Flights

Monday, November 16th, 2009

These are simply listed in point format to make it easier for you to read right through to the end. Of all the reviews I’ve written online these are my major points to consider.

Book in advance

Making an early booking is one way of getting a cheap flight. leaving your booking for the last minute will result in late bokking charges which are usually high. Booking early is always an advantage even as early as 10 weeks if possible..

Travel midweek

The best time to travel is midweek. That is, from Monday to Thursday. The rest of the times the fares are much higher. I mean the weekends are considered peak time since everyone is traveling – if you want to fly cheap to SA, avoid weekend flights.

Book indirect flights

One thing is certain – direct flights are pricey. This comes with the convenience of direct flying. If you are looking for the cheapest flights in the literal sense then direst flights are not an option.

Travel in winter

If you’ve ever taken the time to look at airfares during different times of the year you will see that winter fares are much cheaper. This is because winter is considered off peak in South Africa i.e. midyear since we are in the Southern Hemisphere.

Travel at night

Most flights do occur during night times. However there are also day-flights, which you must avoid if you want to fly cheap. It always a good idea to double check however as sometimes the day flights might be offering a discount.

You will be able to get all this information and more at any one of the following. Do take your time to check out more resources on this site and on the web:

My holiday couldn’t have gone much better!

Wednesday, September 23rd, 2009

Goodbye England, i wanted some extra excitement in America, why not Las Vegas. Just working all the time really wasn’t doing it for me, i needed to get out there and do something. I really wanted to go for a long holiday, and to go somewhere far away, somewhere I hadn’t tried before. Somebody mentioned to me that Las Vegas was the place to be for an exciting holiday.

So that was it I was on my way for Las Vegas Holidays. I landed in McCarran Airport, and was picked up in a car and taken to the Bellagio Hotel. I was astonishingly awe struck. It truly was the best hotel I had ever visited. The marble floors and the pillars are of great quality, not that i really know, but they look good. As for the room, well it was like a small penthouse suite.

So now, to the gaming floor. So I booked myself in for a few games of blackjack and roulette. It was great fun, but to be fair I didn’t really win much, in fact I think I lost a fair bit. I had heard much about the city of Las Vegas, all i needed to do now was see some of the sites and finish the rest of my holiday with a couple of nice drinks.

It was coming to the end of my vacation, so i decided to head back to the hotel. I decided to spend my last day on the slot machines at the Bellagio. I had begun to spend a little too much, somewhere in the region of 140 dollars, then all of a sudden, there was a flashing light and a siren, i was all of a sudden surrounded by people. At first I didn’t know what had happened, until I noticed the Giant “Jackpot” flashing sign. I won’t say how much I won, but it was a fair amount. Without a doubt, this was a great holiday.

I have also recommended to my two sons to have Las Vegas weddings, should be good fun for all of them.
