Most tourists use taxi cabs to get around in Greece. You should know that only 4 passengers will be able to be in one cab at a time and the entire luggage must fit in the trunk of the cab. You may have to hail more than one taxi if you have several pieces of luggage. Be sure you are ready to travel when you call, the taxis only take a few minutes to arrive to your location after they are called.

Having a map of Greece will be extremely helpful for finding your way around. In Finland, you will find more museums per capita than any other place in the world.  Two of those are the Ateneum Art Museum, and National Museum.  If you are in the mood to see a castle, with a moat and lake, you will want to visit Hame Castle, which was built in the 13th century.  In the 1830′s, Hame was converted to a prison, but has now been restored to a modern-day museum.

One of the oldest zoos in the world can be found in Helsinki.  Korkeasaari was built in 1950, and it’s worth the visit.  The Olympic Stadium is another itinerary topper. It was constructed in 1940 for Olympic Games that had to be cancelled, due to WWII.  Finland did not host the Games until 1952.

Another Finnish highlight is St. Olaf’s Castle, Olavinlinna. You will find this beautifully restored, 500-year-old castle, balanced on the edge of a tiny green island and looking like it came from a fairytale.  The King’s Road is worth exploring, too. Once a tie between Sweden and Russia, it follows the southern coastline, and you will still find taverns, castles, manor houses, cottages, and stone churches along the way.

If you want to see a medieval town, Turku is the oldest in Finland, and worth the visit.  This 750-year-old town was at one time, Finland’s capital.  It has a 13th century castle that has been restored, and it now serves as a Viking museum.  Of course, if you are in Finland, you must see the Land of the Midnight Sun and the Northern Lights.  Sparsely populated, this wilderness is known for its open fells and hills, uninhabited forests, lakes as clear as crystal, babbling brooks and foaming rapids.  Be sure to try the salmon, or maybe a reindeer steak, and taste some rare golden cloudberry wine.  Lapland is, of course, the home of Santa Claus.  Definitely plan a trip to visit Santapark. It is St. Nick’s very own theme park!

Estonia was under Danish, Swedish, German, and Russian rule for centuries, finally attaining its independence on August 20, 1991.  With only about 1.5 million people, Estonia is a small country, but it is steadily becoming a modern market economy with its strong telecom and electronics industries, and increasing ties to the West.

Tallinn, one of the most industrialized cities in the Baltic Region, is the capital of Estonia. Travelers flock to see Tallinn’s Old Town, which dates from the 11th century.  Quaint cobbled streets wind through both sections of the town, so tourists can see the Lower Town, as well as Toompea Hill, which housed the aristocracy.  By the advent of the 16th century, Old Town’s walls and fortresses had become some of the strongest defense structures in Europe.  In 1894, another dominating landmark was added, with the building of the Alexander Nevsky Russian Orthodox Cathedral.

Some other tourist travel favorites include Tallinn’s Zoo, which includes almost 6,000 animals, and Rocca al Mare Tivoli, which is Estonia’s largest amusement park.  The Botanical Garden is a must-see, as well.  Covering 110 hectares, this magnificent park has more than 8,000 plant species from all over the world, and specialized exhibits change every month. 

Travelers will find Kadriorg Palace in Tallinn, as well.  This lovely pink baroque palace provided Russian Tsar, Peter I, with a summer home, and today stands in the center of a seaside resort.  Housing the Estonia Art Museum, it is also the setting for numerous concerts, theatrical performances, lectures, and receptions. 

Tallinn is not the only place worth seeing in Estonia. Check out the Estonian Open Air Museum, which can be found on Kopli Bay. You will discover this lovely parkland is home to a compilation of preserved, historic Estonian buildings, which have been relocated from around the country.  Situated on the western coast of Estonia, Haapsalu is well worth a visit. You will enjoy the guest lodges, deserted beaches, and 13th century ruins, not to mention a Gothic cathedral.  There is also a castle with a female ghost, but you will not see her unless it’s a full moon in August. 

There is a wealth of tradition and heritage on the tiny island of Kihnu , where inhabitants still wear the traditional Estonia costumes.  Of course, Estonia’s parks are a must-see.  One of four, Lahemaa National Park offers waterfalls, a river, and stunning coastal scenes, plus fourteen lakes and several archaeological sites.

Parnu is another attraction.  Found on the southern coast, this city has been a human settlement since 7500 B.C.   Tourists can walk through the Old Town and Town Center, and see the Red Tower, Swedish ramparts, and a 17th century house.  Moreover, do not forget the Neoclassical baths, where visitors restore their skin and enhance beauty with traditional mud baths. 

Most tourists opt for summer time to visit Estonia, but the spring and fall seasons are exceptional, as well..  However, if winter appeals to you, then you need to come to the Christmas Market, which is held in Tallin’s Old Town every December, drawing a number of bundled visitors.

Denmark is the smallest of the Scandinavian countries, and consists of the Jutland peninsula and over 400 islands.  In this land of peace and tranquility, it is difficult to imagine Denmark once spawned the formidable, seafaring Vikings.

With a plethora of picturesque villages, castles, ring forts, monuments, sandy beaches, coves and fjords, Denmark offers exciting travel options.  The best time to visit this remarkably beautiful country is August, however, you can plan to vacation anytime from April through October, and generally see nice weather and longer days.

Then, of course, Funen is a must-see.  Known as the ‘Garden of Denmark’, it offers some of Denmark’s most appealing countryside.  In addition, visitors can enjoy historic castles, churches and manor houses, set in longstanding parks and gardens.   Named after the Norse god, Oden, Odense is the main city of Funen, and the third largest city in Denmark.  Odense has been called the ‘Capital of Fairytales’, and is probably best known as the birthplace of Hans Christian Andersen (1805-1875).  Every July and August, Odense has a festival celebrating the works of Hans Christian Andersen, where visitors can tour his childhood home and the Hans Christian Andersen Museum.  Funen’s newest attraction is the Naturama, which opened up in 2005.  This amazing museum has three levels of multimedia and natural history displays.

Knuthenborg Park is well worth the trip to Lolland.  This is Denmark’s largest park, and it has over 500 species of trees, flowers and plants, and also contains a safari park.  In Bornholm, tourists will find Hammershus.  Built in 1260, it is Denmark’s largest castle ruin.  Another tourist highlight is Elsinore.  This is where the old fortress of Kronborg is located.  The setting for Shakespeare’s Hamlet is considered one of the most imposing structures in Scandinavia.
