Vacation Home Rental

My husband and I used to live in CA and enjoyed vacationing in Hawaii. Now that we live in TX and have a toddler, we’re fairly sure we can’t do the 8.5 hour flight that it would take to get us there. We’d like to take a "tropical" vacation without leaving the mainland…is there somewhere in Florida that has super white sand beaches…warm water, etc. and is really kid friendly like the island of Oahu? I don’t know anything about the state and have heard varying things about Miami, Destin, the Keys, etc. Would love to hear from you if you’ve taken a beach vacation to Florida and thought it was just awesome! (Or, maybe there’s another state that offers what we’re looking for? Myrtle Beach, etc?)

Around the Fourth of July, my family of 5 is planning to go on vacation in Florida. The problem is, we can’t think of a nice big beach to go to other than Destin (it gets too pricey)..
So, I’m asking you, out of your personal knowledge and experience, what is the best place to go in Florida other than Destin, Panama, Daytona, or Clearwater?

I’m just looking for a very beautiful beach to go to.

Any suggestions would be great, and if anyone has any opinions on Destin or Clearwater…

I m looking for a nice Hotel-Resort-Vacation House on the Beach must be Kids friendly, our kids are 3 and 5 so a Hotel with Waterpark or small kids pool would be great, ( on Florida Panhandle) Destin, Ft Walton, Orange Beach area….Thanks

We moved from Miami to Houston a few years ago and would like to find a gulf coast resort somewhere mid-point between those two locations to meet up with our family. Does anyone have any recommendations for an affordable resort/hotel/rental preferably on the beach somewhere in the pan handle vicinity? We’ve looked at Destin which seems a little pricey. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

It was very beautiful in Destin Florida. They were allowing people to swim at the beach. But we did see some very small tar balls and every once in a while you could smell the oil. But for the most part it was very beautiful and we had a great time. I just hope they get all this stuff cleaned up with the BP oil spill. I would hate to see such a beautiful place destroyed by it.
