The Beauty Of Luxury Train Travel

Monday, May 31st, 2010

Our world is filled with many different ways to see the planet. It goes without saying that we have parts of this world that are absolutely gorgeous. A very good way to see all the sights is through luxury train travel. Traveling upon the rails inside an extravagant train can give you a freedom like you have never known.

Some people like flying in planes. Some people like traveling on the rolling seas to exotic places in a huge cruise ship. Some people love exploring the sights around them by their vehicle. But, others love traveling by train because their very first experience is so fantastic, they will not be able to stop at just once.

The interiors of these spectacular creations are gorgeous in and of themselves. The luxury train suites offer baths with separate showers. Yes, you read that correctly, baths and separate showers. These are full sized, not the teeny tiny showers that only half a person can fit into. The bathrooms are as big or bigger than what you will find in the average home.

The full sized beds are just as big as any bed you can fit into your bedroom. You can sleep until your heart desires waking and will sleep in complete comfort. Plush pillows (and plenty of them) cradle your head as you head off the dream land. Crisp, glorious sheets and fluffy blankets swaddle your body in tender warmth.

Liquor lounges offer more beverage combinations than you can imagine. Margarita, wine, beer, Fuzzy Navel, Sling, brandy, champagne, Bermuda Highball, Long Island Iced Tea, Acapulco, Strawberry Daiquiri, Bacardi Cocktail, Aquarius; there are too many more to be listed here. Just rest assured, that if you can imagine it, it can probably be concocted.

Twenty four hours a day, the room service staff is prepared to meet your needs. Do you want fruit brought to your room? You make a simple call and voila, the fruit is at your door with a smiling individual bringing it. Do you need chocolates or more ice? Make another call and here they come bringing just what you ordered.

A family room with chairs, ottoman, corner tables, and a fantastic sofa are arranged for your comfort. Some of these suites give you the added pleasure of allowing you to view movies from a movie screen. Of course, you can request what you want when you reserve your suite for your vacation. Do not procrastinate any longer. Get you bottom on the vacation track right away!

Traveling In South Africa Via Luxury Train Travel

Monday, May 31st, 2010

When you want to travel in South Africa and do so via luxury train travel only one thought should come to mind. That would be the thought of the Vos family and their wonderful work to bring back the classic locomotives to use for Rovos Rail. A chance for romantics to enjoy, and train lovers to be thrilled by.

Through the years they have bought older locomotives and fixed them up. Restoring them to the beautiful works of art that they are. Plus taking the inside and making it so comfortable that you will enjoy a very elegant luxury train travel. Of the fleet their oldest engine is one dating back to 1893.

Part of the travel fleet you will also find three 19D locomotives. During the years of 1937 to 1948, only 235 of these would be produced. Two of which would be rescued from scrap metal yards by the family to be fixed up.

In addition there are five 25NC engines that are included in the fleet. Those can well be called the giants of Steam engines in the past. They are now brought back for you to enjoy a wonderful time when you travel this way.

Of the 25NC class the first addition would be the 3484 Marjorie. An engine that was originally built by a company in Scotland during the year 1953. It was one of the engines that would require the most work to get back into working condition. Though now it is a true oil-burning locomotive that is beautiful. Just as an example for the conversion of that engine it add a lot of range to the locomotive. At the old and original state it could travel one kilometer, now it can go 400. Her first voyage would take place in May of 1999.

Next of the fleet is the 3442 Anthea, built during 1953 out of a company based in Germany. Placing her back into working condition would be completed by May of 2007. During her first trip she would take a steam safari that led to Victoria Falls. A truly wonderful voyage that many people were able to enjoy.

Next on the block would be the 3533 King Zog, built during 1954 again coming out of Scotland. The name funny enough is still part of the Vos family and it is the dog of Rohan whose name was used for this beauty. Finding its way through restoration and ready for its first trip in 2008.

Still buying two more of these to add into the fleet with the purchase of the 3440 and 3480. Both of them are still being worked on to be restored. At first it was thought 3440 was going to be damaged too much to be repaired. However, it was found to not be as bad as thought and in the process of being worked on.

Finally the 3480 that is also in the process of being fixed up and added into the mix for travelers to choose from.

Thinking of a Vacation to Yellowstone

Monday, May 31st, 2010

Are you considering a Vacation to Yellowstone ?  Here are some things to keep in mind when planning your summer vacation .

Planning your trip

Yellowstone National Park is a incredibly large  place.  The park  encompases 3,472 square miles (or 2,219,789 square acres).  It is larger  than the states of Rhode Island and Delaware combined.

Because it is so vast  , it is crucial that you  plan what you would like to  do before you start your trip.  One good way to help you decide is to buy or rent a Yellowstone DVD when you are doing your  research .  The DVDs can give you several good ideas about what to do, and where to visit, and might show you some places that you won’t have the opportunity to visit while you are there .  Once you know these things, you can start planning your itinerary.

 Inside the Park

If you have never been to Yellowstone, you must include Old Faithful on your list of stops.  If you have visited before, there are still many other spectacular places that you should  see , including fishing bridge, the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone with the upper and lower falls.  If you like the thermal and geologic features, don’t miss the Norris Geyser Basin.  For  finding animals  , one of the great  places is the Hayden Valley.

Where to Stay

There is a lodging option for  every budget  in Yellowstone.  You can “rough it” in the back country,  Stay in a tent in an organized camp ground, stay in a lodge such as the Old Faithful Inn, or stay in a hotel in the city of West Yellowstone.

One lodging option that more and more people are opting for is an Island Park Rental Cabin.  Island Park is located about 20 miles from the west entrance to the park, and for the same price as many hotel rooms, you can rent a cabin with bedrooms or a loft that can sleep up to 10 people.  Not only can you have more people stay than you could with a hotel room, but because the cabins include a full kitchen , you can save a lot of money by preparing your own meals or sack lunches.

What to do

There are many  things to do  inside Yellowstone.  Depending on  what you like  , you might consider walks on   the hundreds of miles of available trails.  You can fish in some of the over 220 lakes  that contain  over 107,000 acres of water.  You can wade in the over 1,000 streams with a total of 2,650 miles of running water.  Be sure to check the  latest fishing regulations before you plan your fishing expedition .

If you like wildlife, you can  try to find  the famous Grizzly bears, or try and spot the newly re-built packs of Yellowstone Wolves.  In addition to these, keep your eyes open for moose, elk, deer, buffalo, eagles, osprey, pelicans, otters, and many other animals.

One of the favorite activities is swimming in the firehole river.  There is an area set aside that anyone can swim in, and for the more adventurous there is diving off cliffs.  The swimming area requires a short walk from the  main road  , and can be difficult for people of have a hard time walking.  Be sure to check for road or facility closures before planning your swimming outing.

Activities outside the Park

When you visit Yellowstone, remember there are  also things to do outside the park.  These can include plays, cowboy poetry, shopping, chuckwagon dinners, rodeos and horseback rides .  Check out the cities near the park such as West Yellowstone and Jackson Hole for more options .

Florida Beach Music

We are thinking of taking a vacation in Florida at the end of March, We have a two year old son and don't ?

Sunday, May 30th, 2010

We don;t really want to do the theme park type of vacation as our two year old son is unlikely to appreciate it that much and we doubt he could cope with the long day etc. Anyway, we are set on Florida as we live on the east coast and want a short flight. Can someone tell me where might be a good option for us to go in Florida? We want a relaxing break.

How to find the Cheapest Airtickets

Sunday, May 30th, 2010

Travel can be a lifesaver . The right vacation at the best time can revitalize your whole year, not to mention your body and mind . But in today’s economy with airlines adding new fees almost day-after-day and airticket prices sharply on the rise, many have written off travel as too expensive. However, with the following savvy tips and a little research, there are still lots of great deals to be had on airline tickets and more.

Early Bird Gets the Deal . Travel experts say that there are certain times of day when more deals are available. Air Tickets can change up to three times a day as airlines adjust their prices to fill up flight seats . Early inf the morning is when the fares tend to be cheapest , but it is a good idea to check every 5 hours in order to track prices as they are modified throughout the day. Also , it’s a good idea to check back again at 5 PM when the airlines are trying hardest to fill empty seats.

Do not follow the Crowds . Fly to popular places at unpopular or even unusual times. The slowest time of the year for travel is in the Fall between Labor Day and Thanksgiving. Again , to try and fill more vacant seats, the airlines will lower prices and offer better deals to get people to travel during this time of the year.

Right place , “wrong” time ? By traveling to popular places at unpopular times, you can get  the best prices from travel companies and airlines . Here is where flexibility in your planning can pay off . Visiting the airline websites and planning your vacation around the best ticket prices offered can result in a fun, cost-effective vacation and maybe widen your horizons to a destination you might never have thought before.

If you were a business traveller , what wouldn’t you do? Flying when business travelers don’t can save you a bundle . Most business travelers fly on Mondays and Fridays, so Tuesday and Wednesday are the best choises . Airlines will normally lower their ticket prices on these days to aggressively try and fill the seats that they haven’t sold .

Packages in offer Many times the best deals on airline tickets can be found as part of a package rate. Most airticket sites have   special packages available and they are   beyond doubt worth a look. Often times, the entire package (hotel, airticket , rental car) is much cheaper than just the air-ticket on another site. Even if you don’t need the rental car , with the money you saved on the flight, you can afford to not pick it up. These deals are especially good on last minute bookings.

With a little research and some good timing, you can get yourself a steal on a ticket to the destination you thought you would never reach .

Vacations In Nottingham

Sunday, May 30th, 2010

Think of Nottingham and most people consider Sherwood Forest, the legend of Sir Robin Hood and the Sherrif of Nottingham and although the story attracts many folk year on year there is a great deal more to the area than your would think. Infact the city of Nottingham is home to a respectable selection of fantastic visitor attractions making it an excellent base for a family vacation and the article below introduces the city and a small number of visitor attractions in Nottingham, as well as some hotels offering Nottingham B&B.

The city of Nottingham is located in Nottinghamshire, in the East Midlands, England, UK. As well as the legend of Robin Hood and the Sheriff of Nottingham, Nottingham is also associated with the lace making business especially during the period known as the Industrial Revolution when it gained a superb worldwide reputation.

The Lace Market, Nottingham

At one time the center of the world’s lace industry, at the time of the British Empire, the Lace Market is, now, a protected heritage area. The area  is home to numerous fine examples of industrial architecture of the 19th Century. The market wasn’t like a normal market area, as such, instead of having stalls and salesmen, the lace market featured a number of warehouses and salesrooms displaying and selling lace. Following the decline in the lace industry the market became rundown but, these days, the vast majority of the old warehouses have been restored and renovated for alternative use for instance photographic studios and the likes. The Lace Market in Nottingham is a popular visitor attraction.

Shire Hall & Galleries of Justice

Near to the Lace Market is the Galleries of Justice located in Shire Hall. The Hall is a Georgian-built civic building which features Neoclassical columns, pilasters and dome. The front of Shire Hall has, if you examine it carefully, a misspelled word Goal rather than Gaol. Shire Hall has 2 well preserved Victorian courtrooms and bath house, a women’s prison, old cells, an Edwardian police station and a prisoner’s exercise yard.

The City of Nottingham is a fantastic place to take a vacation. You will find plenty to see and do around the city and an incredible number of visitor attractions nearby. Nearby places worth visiting include; Hardwick Hall, Wollaton Hall and Newstead Abbey.

As is common in all England B&B, accommodation in Nottingham is usually top class at a fair rate and many tourists choose to stay in Nottingham for only part of their vacation and then somewhere else for the remaining time.
