Discover the Kimberley with Kimberley Discovery Cruises

Friday, February 26th, 2010

The Kimberley is Australia’s last true frontier and it needs to be experienced to be fully appreciated. Kimberley Discovery Cruise’s vessel, Discovery One, is an 82’ catamaran that has the advantage of being able to deliver up-close experiences of this pristine wilderness that larger vessels can’t offer. Our Ecotourism cruises observe the Kimberley’s natural beauty, maximising the experience and enjoyment for our passengers, while respecting this magnificent natural asset.  In combination with our shore excursions, there is simply no better way to discover the magic of this region.

While we visit all the well known features of the Kimberley coast, our cruises also offer new and unexpected discoveries and experiences. For example, if we spot some wildlife, our captain will take time to let our guests enjoy this natural treat. His aim is to cover everything in the itinerary but he has the flexibility, and the inclination, to alter it a little.

Discovery One offers a more comfortable, relaxed and casual experience than larger cruise ships, while still providing plenty of deck space for everyone, including our top deck with 360 degree views. With a maximum capacity of 22 passengers, after just a day or two of cruising, our guests will be on a first name basis with both crew and other guests. Our cruises attract people who share a passion for travel, adventure and learning. The smaller number of guests also means that you can savour this unspoilt wilderness without a crowd. This is to experience a sense of timelessness and beauty beyond the everyday.

Lastly, our cruises aim to create the least impact on the environment while we are there, forever ensuring that this magnificent region remains untouched. So, when the call of the Kimberley draws you back one day, as it surely will, we want you to find the same unspoilt and natural beauty that has forever been there.

Tons Of Gay Travel In Europe Destinations

Thursday, February 25th, 2010

Fortunately for our community, there are simply tons of gay travel in Europe destinations. As a much more progressive country, Europe offers the gay traveler everything from clubs to eateries to family friendly hotels. There are many destinations that do not expect you to be closeted or even subtle, which for those coming from some of the more repressed destinations can be quite liberating.

Hot spots for gays like London–Soho are great for those that want to experience all of the gay culture in Europe all at once. The entire area is like a town dedicated to family, and thus can be one of the more exciting destinations for those who have become fed up with self editing trips that require discretion.

Fortunately, gay travel in Europe is generally much more open than the travel opportunities in many other countries. Whether you’re looking for a club in Barcelona or you are considering a more off the beaten track destination like Genoa, there are many destinations that offer you a chance to go on holiday without self editing, worrying about your general safety, or even needing a significant other to tour the town with.

This means that the fight for equality and tolerance has already been fought. While there will always be intolerance, many of these countries and cities are more open than most of the states.

Germany has a surprising number of gay friendly destinations as well. Pubs and establishments within the friendly areas are not the typically hole in the wall locales that many of us are accustomed to. In the areas where tolerance is high for gay people traveling in Germany, all establishments are equally open to straight people as they are toward gay people. You can just walk in as yourself rather than walking into an underground destination without windows.

Europe’s open atmosphere can be found in just about any larger town, and many of the small towns. While you still need to be aware of the areas that are less tolerant, simply having a reputable family oriented travel agency help plan your route can keep you well in the clear.  Booking a tour that caters to gay friendly atmospheres can give you the opportunity to see this part of the world without having to determine which areas are accepting and which areas aren’t.

Gay Travel To Sydney, Australia

Wednesday, February 24th, 2010

For everyone, Sydney is one of the world’s favorite destinations. Its prime location, set on the Darling Harbour and with miles of golden beaches combined with good food and cultural options it has something for everyone. It’s winning of the 2003 Out and About poll of international city of the year just increased popularity for gay travel to Sydney Australia.

The highlight of the gay and lesbian calendar is the famous Sydney Mardi Gras held in February each year. This event is popular with the non-homosexual population as well. People from all walks of life stand along the parade route and it is televised on commercial TV. During this time of year accommodation is tight, so do book early if you want to stay.

The beaches are endless and the best time to be here is from October to March, the Australian summer period. North Bondi is always a classic, but if you want to find a nude beach there are four in easy reach of the city center. If you are a little more energetic you can make the 30 minute walk from Bronte to Bondi to enjoy the coast.

Food and cafes are a way of life here. The range of cuisine is immense and you will be able to find an option that suits your budget. One of the highlights of Sydney must be sitting in the sun at a cafe on the harbor and watching the people and boats go by.

The main gay district of Sydney is centered around Oxford Street; affectionately know as the pink stip. Here there are many gay friendly bars and clubs and a wide range of shopping opportunities from start up designers to the much more high end range of shopping options.

Gay travel to Sydney Australia is a rewarding experience. The seasons are the opposite of those in the Northern hemisphere so if you are in need of some sun and fun, in a gay friendly environment, Sydney is a prime destination.

Don’t forget, though that other parts of Australia are also welcoming to gay travelers.  For example, consider an extended excursion to the gay destinations in Queensland, as well.

Port Dickson Becoming A Popular Destination For Tourists

Monday, February 22nd, 2010

Port Dickson, located on the Malaysian peninsula, has been increasing in popularity among tourists. The area has a great deal to offer visitors. There are scenic beaches, comfortable hotels, shopping bazaars, excellent restaurants, and historical sites to explore. The population of almost 90,000 welcome tourists in this city located a short one hour drive from Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia.

In addition to driving, the town can also be reached by a ferry that operates between Dumai, Sumatra and Port Dickson. Public transportation, in the form of buses, is also available. Yachts, sailboats, and cruisers can also dock at one of the yacht clubs in the port.

The port has several historic sites of interest. The Cape Rachardo lighthouse, built by the Portuguese during the 1500′s, is still in operation. Visitors who climb the spiral staircase are treated to a wonderful view across the Malacca Straits. Nearby is a footprint in stone that legend states belongs to a warrior from the 1400′s.

The Muzium Tentera Darat is located next to the army camp. Vehicles and aircraft once used by the Royal Malaysian Army are on display. Another site, Fort Kempas, has the tomb of Ulama Sheikh Ahmad Makhtum that dates to the 1400′s. Carved stones are said to depict his struggles and ultimate victory, and there is a strange one that is supposed to be a type of lie detector. And Fort Raja Jumaat features a collection of old muzzle loaders that were once used to defend the fort, and also has a royal burial ground and palace foundations. More antique guns can be found beside the police station.

The Cozzi Port Dickson hotel, or any of the fine hotels in this resort town, can cheerfully make arrangements for guests to snorkel, ski or canoe. Anyone interested in sailing can arrange a temporary membership at the Yacht Club.

There are many excellent restaurants in the city. Some offer traditional Malaysian or Chinese food, but you can even find a Mexican restaurant in town. Most of the hotels also have dining rooms.

Shoppers can visit a market on Saturday nights for a shopping experience to remember. Located near town center, the market offers produce and fresh fish but also offers mementos such as shirts.

The district was once famous for its production of tin and charcoal. However, past operations have not impacted the scenic beauty of the area. Beaches remain clean and lovely, and the jungle is still very much alive. More hotels and other types of facilities are currently being built, and there are some major projects planned that will further increase the popularity of Port Dickson as a tourist destination.

Sekigane is also a wonderful Eastern getaway.  It’s a tiny village which has hot water springs and coastal mountains.  At the end of this tiny but calm and amazing town is a walk up through bamboo groves to Kamei Park.

The Kyoto Fu peninsula is a little promontory that makes a great getaway.  to reach this spur you need to drive from Kumihama to Mineyama, Omiya and Miyazu.  On the south of Omiya there’s a tiny shrine that too is religiously and traditionally quite important.

The Wakasa Wan ( Bay ) is another brilliant getaway.  The Wakasa dismal countrywide Park is sort of popular here.

A Culture of Retrospect and Reflection

Monday, February 15th, 2010

Tokyo just might be the biggest city in the world, comprised of twenty-three individual wards, all with their own unique characteristics.  Foreigners are easily intimidated by the sheer expanse of Japan’s leading city and its 17,000,000 inhabitants ( 5,000,000 are commuters ) ; {however ,} due to this volume alone Tokyo has developed an unequalled public transportation system and a complex network of visitor friendly info resources.  The best way to travel Tokyo’s delirious bustle is to permit the subway to guide the way.  A loose itinerary will draw you into true jap life through surprising encounters and more intimate experiences.

Tokyo : A patron Capital

It may be ironic that one of the most expensive cities in the world also has one of the most rampant and showy buyer cultures.  Visitor attractions in Tokyo consist of many gargantuan shopping complexes additionally to the cultural tops.  The Ginza shopping district reigns supreme for ostentatious spending habits, with thousands of mega-stores, boutiques and an excessive array of non-functional novelty stores for the simply entertained within us all.  For a dose of New York in Tokyo, visit Shibuya, which is rife with higher-end shops, shrines, King-Kong-sized plasma television screens and the most hectic pedestrian street crossing in the world.

A Culture of Retrospect and Reflection

There is an inclination to become inundated and desensitized by the fluorescent lights that line the town streets like masts in Japan’s sea of technology.  While these electric churches help to extol a hyper-modern age, Tokyo also possesses some of the most idyllic and unruffled shrines and pagodas in the country.  Meiji-jingu is the most impressive of Tokyo’s Shinto shrines, built with jap cypress and copper plates for the roof.  Even though the shrine was annihilated during World War Two, the reconstruction has not lost any of the grandeur.  Just north of the town, Bonsai Park treats visitors to the zen-like art of cultivating these carefully placed miniature trees and experiencing the calming of the mind.  A necessary experience for anyone journeying to Tokyo is the view of Mount Fuji in the early hours of dawn.  This is possible from inside the town, atop one of the massive skyscrapers like the governing body Building in Shinjuku.  Directly in the middle of Tokyo, the Imperial Palace ( Kokyo ) is an inner-city sanctuary that is home to the Imperial Family.  The public can visit the encompassing East Gardens and walk along the double bridge over the tranquil moats of the palace grounds, but the palace buildings and inner yard are closed to visitors.

Travel to Tokyo with a willingness to get lost among the hustle and maybe find yourself again in the silence of a shrine.  The expansive city and system of subways make it virtually impossible to make a wrong turn.

Thinking about traveling outside of the country? Famouswonders.com can help you decide where to go on your next vacation, or you can view The Imperial Palace Tokyo.
