Boracay Resorts to Stay

It will be a vacation dream came true when you go to a tropical island so heavenly you find the best in everything with the best comfort and relaxing avenue for an island vacation in paradise. My family always go there two times every year especially during summer or school break.

My kids love to plunge into the cool, crystal blue waters of the Island while I and my hubby indulge in a relaxing massage along the beach sands. Masseurs are available almost everywhere along the White Beach offering you a fantastic massage or reflexology at only Php P300.00.

Have a day off from hassle and you feel revitalized by the massage given to you by the masseurs who can be lively and very enjoyable.

You can opt to get your relaxing massage inside a hut or their massage center or you can have it along the beach shores under a palm tree to get an extra enjoyment of the cool Boracay breeze.

Many misconstrued that a Boracay vacation can be very expensive. For someone who is basically a regular visitor of the Island you can always find several Boracay hotels and resorts that offer reasonable price.

Mostly the rate of the price will be according to the type of accommodation you desire.

Boracay resorts first class accommodation will always give you a luxurious experience. Boracay resorts with pools and special amenities come at a higher rate. We like to stay in resorts with pools because my kids are like swimming piranhas but not all resorts with pools can be very pricey if you know how to find the best place at an affordable price.

My favorite hotels in Boracay are The Regency and Tonglen Resort. The most expensive hotel we ever stayed at is at the Regency Hotel, the best and expensive hotel at White Beach. It is actually the largest hotel in the area and the most famous one for its first class accommodation. Their room accommodation rates will range from Php 8,000 to Php 15,000 but the price basically varies according to the season.

They have several pools along the area with rooms so wide that you get the pleasure of enjoying your sleep and respite. You enjoy an extension water fun in your room at their huge bath tubs which my children do after an outdoor swim from the pool and the beach.

They have numerous restaurant spots where you can select to eat indoor or outdoor. They also serve buffet style and an eat all you can dinner along the Boracay shore. They have extensive menus to offer from special cuisines, fruits, desserts, soup, seafood and assorted drinks at Php 600 per head.

You get to enjoy the privilege to swim at their pools of various sizes with free towels to use. They also have an area at the beach front where their guests can stay to enjoy the cool breeze of the beach as you get a tan or read a book or watch beach games or simply to lie down and relax under the sun.

Tonglen Resort also provides a homey ambience with a more serene place to stay. Unlike the Regency Hotel located at the beach front and main center of the Island at Station 2 this Boracay resort is located about 2 minutes walk from the beach shore at Station 3.

Tonglen Resort have a nice pool where you get more privacy. I enjoy eating breakfast at their pool area because of a warmer and peaceful ambience away from the bustling shore of the island. An overnight stay there may cost Php 2,500 and higher.

Tonglen offers a reasonable accommodation rate with decent facilities to give you a more restful stay in the island. The place is well maintained and their rooms are equipped with hot and cold showers, a cable television, air conditioning, soft bed with comforters and soft pillows. They have wide backyard which are lined with mango trees with huts to stay.

Although it can never be a luxurious Boracay resorts accommodation at Tonglen it does give a satisfying island experience to guests who value their privacy and want to obtain a more restful vacation away from stress and the bustling activities at the beach front.

Antipolo City in the Philippines

Sunday, January 31st, 2010

Antipolo City is a city of pilgrims and contemplatives, tourists, traders, artists and artisans.

Located on the east of Manila, its name came from the Tipolo tree, which grows in that area. It abounds in natural attractions.

Antipolo City Philippines is a part of the Sierra Madre Mountain Range, being a hilly and mountainous area. It has a total land mass of 38,575.04 hectares, the next largest town next to Rodriguez in Rizal province. Antipolo is separated into two districts that are additional subdivided into 16 barangays.

The city is accessible in different routes: (1) from Marikina via Sumulong Highway, (2) from Cubao, Quezon City, via Marcos Highway, and (3) from Cainta/Taytay via Ortigas Extension.

Buses, FX’s, jeepneys, shuttle buses and tricycles are the means of transportation which interconnect the city’s 16 barangays.

English and Filipino are commonly spoken and understood by the inhabitants. The telecommunication is provided by the country’s largest telecommunication system and over 100 internet cafes serve access to electronic mails and the world wide web.

Tourism, manufacturing/processing (garments and shoes) for export, “kasuy” or cashew nuts, cement processing, and agriculture (poultry and livestock) are the major industries of the city. The city also has private and public schools.

During the 1720′s, the Virgin of Antipolo/ Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage (Nuestra Senora dela Paz y Buen Viaje) achieved plenty of followers coming from Manila and the nearby towns and provinces. According to historians, this miraculous icon saved her galleon in going back and forth from Manila to Acapulco for eight times, thus saving it from the destruction of pirates and Dutch and British blockades. The month of May is the fiesta of Antipolo, when thousands of devotees pay homage to the virgin.

Antipolo City has plenty of attractions, both natural and man-made, which are particularly enticing to tourists. The Shrine of Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage is a renowned destination where plenty of devotees gather to during the fiesta, especially those who are traveling out of the country. The white cross of Pinagmisahan Hills on the highest peak of Kaytikling Road, is also a popular destination during Lent season. To reach the white cross, one has to go through the life-size images of the station of the cross, to contemplate the passion, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Another religious spot, the Boso-Boso Church, which is an old rock church that rests grandly with wild vines and plants growing on the peak of its ruins. During the World War II this church was ruined. Inside the remnant is a chapel built to offer Sunday masses to the parishioners.

Visitors can get an energetic lift after the tiring spiritual cleansing at the White Cross by splashing at the Hinulugang Taktak Falls. This is Antipolo’s natural and cultural heritage. Hinulugang Taktak’s meaning i s “the place where the bell was dropped.” The 15th century legend explain that the waterfalls is the place where the townspeople go plunged the large bell that causes immense destruction whenever it rings at Angelus that no one could bear. They asked the priest to throw the bell. Thus the place got its name.

The Mystical Caves in Antipolo is where nature meets religion. 205 steps before the opening give one a sense of mysticism in the caverns. A natural rock formation of stalactites and stalagmites having shapes and faces of religious icons such as the Trinity, Calvary, Holy Spirit, Bell and Madonna and the Child. Humaka Park is a worthwhile stop for the visitors for a tableau depicting the old way of transportation of Antipolenos by way of carrying ladies or their leaders using hamaka or hammocks.

The Boracay Philippines experience is one you will truly enjoy, whether you visit with loved ones, or even decides to come alone and make new friends as you go along. It is also popular for its nightlife, for those who enjoy the night scene as well. Overall it has the best of all elements to make a visit for anyone unforgettable.

Maglalatik and the Fight of Dances Between the Christians and the Moros

Sunday, January 31st, 2010

Creative and colorful; these are some of the things that you can use to label the Philippine dances that define its culture. And for sure you will not be disappointed, since the country’s dances are all creative and colorful. An example is the Philippine dance called the ‘Maglalatik’ that is sure to catch the fancy of those looking for a traditional dance that goes down to the basics, and of course a dance that is colorful and festive. This dance is called as ‘Magbabao’ which can mean ‘the one utilizing the ‘bao’, which is the coconut shell. Throughout the dance, the viewers of the dance can expect that most of the dance moves that will be performed by the dancers will focus on the use of these ‘baos’ or the coconut shells and some of the noises or the music that will be used by the dance will be generated by these coconut shells.

This dance actually tells a story- and it depicts the fight between the Moros and the Christians over the ‘latik’. The ‘latik’ is the excess that is left after the coconut milk has been boiled and cooked. This dance is composed of a four-part performance and the first two performance of the dance is called as the ‘Palipasan’ and the ‘Baligtaran’.

In these first two performances, the dance will show the opposing squads in an intense battle. The final two parts of the dance are the ‘Sayaw Escaramusa’ and the ‘Paseo’. These two dances basically show the reconciliation between the two groups and the dance steps of the dancers will show and suggest that the opposing groups are now in good terms. The two groups in this dance is the group of the Moros and the other group is the group of the Christians. All dancers that participate in this classic dance are male and they all harness and use the coconut shells. These shells are attached on many points of the body of the dancers- in the chests, the backs, the thighs and the hips. The performers will hold their triangular shaped coconut shells in their hands and they utilize these shells to hit the coconut shells that are fixed on their bodies and they use these to create the music that will accompany them when they are performing. The Moros in this dance will wear the red trousers and the Christian group will wear the blue trousers. This dance will involve some simple movements and simple repetitions.

The following will be a listing of the steps that are generally performed in the dance.

. First step will have performers make 6 to 8 counts of jogging while they stay in their place

. Then four steps forward while pounding the chests.

. Four basic clap cycles while the dancers are in place

. Another four basic clap cycles in order for the dancers to get to two rows

. Another 8 quick clap cycles to the ripple effect

. Another 8 quick clap cycles that will allow the dancer to circle around the partner, and next up is the Circle Up.

. The dancers will make 8 counts+1 -4 count for the first clap

. Dancers will clap after the one 8 count and this should be done 8 times, then the finishing clap

. Dancers will make 8 high-low clap cycles in order to move into position.

. Another 8 cycles of 6 hit clapping

. The dancer will then make 16 counts for the tricks with another round of clapping in the background

. Dancer will make 4 basic to get to the two sides

. Dancer will make 8 quick clap cycles for the battle

. Dancer will make 4 quick clap cycles in order to get to the end

. And right after the last clap, the dancers then make their pose.

According to historians, this Philippine dance originated in Laguna and usually performed during the town fiesta of Biñan. The dance is usually performed in a religious procession as the procession moves down the street. This dance called ‘Maglalatik‘ is performed as an offering to their patron saint- San Isidro de Labrador.

Top Resorts in Lanzarote

Sunday, January 31st, 2010

Lanzarote in the Canary Islands is home to three main holiday resorts.  Along with the Millionaire’s Marina of Puerto Calero.  Which boasts two upmarket hotels and a host of expensive yachts and craft as well as plenty of good quality restaurants.

Each resort has its own history, character, attractions and plus points. With all of them offering high standards of accommodation and boasting an excellent selection of Lanzarote villas and hotels.

So where can you find some of the best holiday resorts renowned for a wide selection of self catering Lanzarote apartments and villas.

Puerto del Carmen

Puerto del Carmen started life as La Tiñosa before becoming Lanzarote´s most popular holiday destination during the 1970´s.  Thanks to an abundance of good value holiday apartment complexes…  Accommodation choices have evolved along with the resort and visitors can now select from a wide range of hotels and holiday villas too.

Puerto del Carmen is an ideal location for all types of holiday makers.  As the resort is perfect for families with young children. Thanks to the fine quality of the resort’s blue flag beaches.  Whilst also offering lots of child friendly attractions such as the Rancho Texas Theme Park – which offers kids an abundance of Wild West themed fun and games.

Villas In Costa Teguise

Situated just fifteen minutes north of Lanzarote´s international airport at Arrecife Costa Teguise was initially designed as the island’s upmarket resort.  And during the 1980´s it proved very successful at attracting moneyed visitors from countries such as Germany, Sweden and Denmark.

Costa Teguise´s excellent beaches and wide open plan feel helped to establish this as the second most popular spot on the island during the 1980´s.  But that crown slipped somewhat during the 1990´s as the resort rival of Playa Blanca was developed at the southern end of the island.  However it still remains an attractive destination and there’s plenty of hotels and holiday villas in Costa Teguise for visitors to choose from.

Playa Blanca

Playa Blanca was the last of the main resorts on the island to be developed during the 1990´s.  And has quickly emerged to become the second most popular destination on the island – thanks to a winning combination of great beaches and fantastic weather.  As well as a fine range of hotels and holiday villas.

There are three main beaches within the resort itself in the form of Playa Dorada, Playa Flamingo and Playa Blanca.  Whilst the famously picturesque coves and bays of Papagayo are around a fifteen minute walk away from the town centre.

Vacation Packages Ideas in America

Sunday, January 31st, 2010

Just very quikly mull over this thought for a brief moment. If someone asked you to compile a list of your top three destinations in America, what would it be? Naturally many people struggle to answer this question because this is a huge country with many different places to see. However, let me try and compile a list of 3 spots in the US that is not only worth your while in your upcoming visit, but I also think to be on the top of the list. Warning – they will surprise you..

An Alaska package vacation is arguably one of the most exciting holidays that you can ever think of. There’s a few things that this state definitely has no short supply of. This is beautifyl wildlife, natural scenery and a range of great activities. There;s one thing we know that Alaska is well known for – former Governor Sarah Palin. Apart from her, what else is there to see in this State? Well one thing that you need to make sure to do is fishing. Fish types of all sorts you willl find in these Alaskan waters – salmon, trout, etc. Also you can see the well known Northern Lights from up north in the State. You should also attempt to work some adventurous activities into your schedule like kayaking or even river rafting. Without a doubt exceptionaly beautiful.

Another place that I think is great is a San Antonio vacation package. There are a number of diverse reasons as to why you would want to visit Texas. One of the best reasons is the city of San Antonio with all its beauty. There’s no shortage of activities, sites and things to do here. Most people are blown away by the rich heritage of this historic city, whilst others enjoy the culinary delights while many folks spend hours on the lush green golf courses. Feel the underlying Spanish heritage and start your trip with the Alamo.

If these two options is not really the kind of thing you are looking for, then you should consider a trip to the great state of Florida. Specifically I’m referring to Key West package vacation. This is a very well known destination and is the southernost city in America and form part of the known Florida Keys. This destination is perfect for two things generally. On the one side you have the joys of indulging in island holiday type activities and you can do this while you sample the many delights of the local cooking. Try the seafood – you will not be disappointed. There are many things to do and consider here. Go wreck diving or even charter a boat to take on the deep seas. Be sure to take your fishing tackle along. It’s a great place to spend a few days to relax and kick back.

The ones that we mentioned above is not the kind of destination that you will normally find on a list of top US spots. This is the kind of America that you will experience that most people actually don’t. It’s the opportunity to mix with the local people and get to see what thecountry is really about. This is the quintessential America. The real US that people from all over the world fall in love with.

Would you stop going on holidays, if you knew it would save the planet?

Sunday, January 31st, 2010

There is growing concern about the environment, but how concerned are we really? People are burning fuel all across the world, and all we do is create more unique ways to help damage the planet. We can take a simple transportation device like a boat, and fill it full of fuel, then burn it in massive volumes.

So if we are that concerned about the environment, what will we be able to do about holidays? Are we just going to keep on having a go at the world, saying we need to do something about this, yet still jump on a jumbo jet for a holiday to the Caribbean? How can we just let talks about saving the world go on, and back everything that is said, and then take off to a luxury location via one of the most destructive of all transportation techniques, the Cruise ship.

However how can we be sure that the world is really in that much trouble? A lot of this is all speculation, backed up by only minor evidence. There may be some evidential backing to all of this, but it is impossible for any scientist to actually say when the world is going to come to an end. So do we want to save the environment? In truth, the damage being caused by flights isn’t in the great scheme of things all that bad, it is where fuel is being burnt in extreme amounts.

What the odds are on there being a ban on going on holiday are, I don’t know, but I would imagine it is something like one million to one. It is up to the people to decide if they want to stop, but many of us feel as though we need holidays, so therefore won’t stop taking them, even if it does mean damaging the planet, when we get the opportunity for a holiday we have to take it. However I would have no vices in banning Cruise Ships, these things are completely pointless, damaging the sea with garbage, and polluting the atmosphere, with massive amounts of C02.

There could be a rush for holidays in the next decade, where would you go, Cuba holidays, Egypt holidays or Maldives holidays?
