Let Your Mouse Do The Traveling:Buy Travel Insurance Online

If an individual or family is about to take their vacation or do some sort of business travel it may be a wise decision to consider the purchase of travel insurance.  This is because the purchase of travel insurance will help to offset any costs associated with unforeseen events that may happen when a family or individual is on a trip.

The reason why travel insurance is so important is that even though a family or individual may plan their vacation down to the smallest detail, there is still the possibility of unforeseen events occurring.  Some of those unforeseen events could include lost luggage, flight cancellations, inclement weather, loss of travel documentation, loss of financial resources, illness, etc.

Therefore, it is important to consider the purchase of travel insurance.  This can be done a number of ways.  One of those ways can be through a local travel agent and buying travel insurance online.

Personalized Service Utilizing A Local Travel Agent Vs. Buying Travel Insurance Online

One tried and true method of buying any type of insurance is by utilizing a local agent.  This also stands true when looking to purchase travel insurance. One can get this type of travel insurance by consulting a local travel agent.

In fact, if an individual or family books their travel arrangements through a local travel agent they might be able to take advantage of an appealing vacation package.  Sometimes, as a courtesy to the customer, these vacation packages offer travel insurance at a reduced cost.  This is because they want the customers to repeat their purchase of future vacation packages. The travelers can be allured by providing travel insurance by the vacation packages to develop the business.

Therefore, sometimes a local travel agent can broker such a deal for their customer.  This can be a win-win situation for all involved in the vacation deal.

The Ease Of Buying Travel Insurance Online

One other method of purchasing travel insurance is through the process of buying travel insurance on line.  The family or individual who is looking to buy travel insurance online will find this a very easy method of obtaining their travel insurance.

Specifically, by buying travel insurance online, this process can be a very convenient process.  That is because the individual doesn’t need to leave the comfort of their home and through the convenience of the Internet, do their shopping for a travel insurance company.

A number of travel insurance companies can be compared and accessed by a traveler if he goes for purchasing online travel insurance.  For example some of those companies can include Tesco online travel insurance, World Nomads or Travel Guard to name a few.

Also, the buying of travel insurance online can be a good financial strategy. The cause of this is the availability of less number of websites to the consumer. After comparing the quotes these website have published different quotes for the travelers.  Therefore, all the traveler needs to do is to select the right company based on their coverage needs and at the best price.

Africa- More Than Just Soccor

Wednesday, December 30th, 2009

The real problem is that many people will be going over to Africa next year for the very first time and it will quite possibly be the last time too. Why is the football going to be so popular? Surely there are other reasons why people should be on their way to Africa next year?

A lot of these things that you can do are in fact a lot better than the World Cuip. Africa is all about saving the animals of the world in the form of a safari and just think how much rubbish is going to be left in South Africa by the football fans next year. All of this is going to make a big impact on the environment and the real question is, should this be happening?

It shouldnt at all as people should be enjoying Africa for all of the other things that it has on offer other than the football next year. Of course the most famous option available to you is to go on a Kenya Safari but that isn’t the only thing you can do in Africa. You can actually do loads of different things such as a self drive holiday and even Christmas deals that you can take part in.

So instead of tearing the place apart next year when the football kicks off why don’t you actually think about going and doing something better in the continent. Of course Zambia holidays and Lamu Holidays are not cheap but they are really worth visiting as they are truly wonderful places to camp in at night.

Yes the football is going to be worth going to watch but that doesn’t mean you cannot think about going to some of the other locations that Africa has on hand to offer someone who is interested in the place.

Flights from UK to Cape Town South Africa are widely available. You can book flights departing from any of the following airports. London (LON), London Heatthrow, Glasgow, Manchester, Newcastle and Birmingham. All flights departing from these airports can take you to Cape Town International Airport. Most of these flights will however have at least one stop over before reaching the Cape.

Examples of flights to book are The KLM, which flies via Amsterdam, The South African airways, which has one stop in Johannesburg; Virgin Atlantic which has a single stop over in in Johannesburg. Another option that you have is Air France, however it makes two stops i.e. flies to Cape Town via Paris De Gaulle and Johannesburg. If you want a direct flight then you will have to book with Birtish Airways.

Between these air flights, KLM is the cheapest and Air France is one of the most expensive. I cannot give you the exact fares as they vary during different times of the year. You would have to consider checking the prices from a comparison website.

Looking at the departure times, KLM lives London at 06:30 and arrives at Amsterdam at 09:05. It lives immediately for Cape Town and arrives in South Africa at 22:30 on the same day. The time for the whole journey is about 13 hours and 05 minutes.

Flying To International Destinations

Monday, December 28th, 2009

Flights across international borders are no longer limited to the major airlines only. Over the years a number of relatively smaller airlines have come on to the scene and provided competition for these big airlines.

The competiton that has resulted from this has been beneficial for a number of reasons. The first one being that this has resulted in a lowering of the airfares across the board. Any airline that is charging extremely high prices is likely to be avoided or boycotted altogether. This has also forced the airlines to improve on the service to passengers during flights. That’s why you now find that most airlines now compete in terms of service rather than airfares.

There is no country in the world that is not accessible by air, as each country in the world now has at least one major international airport for the arrival and departure of international flights. On most of the routes they is a major airline and a smalle competing airline.

Securng tickets for an international flight is really not something difficult. This can be done through the airline’s ticket office either personally or by phone you can do it through travel agents or you can make an online booking ,. It is also possible to access a list of domestic flights to different places within a country.

This information can be obtained from where ever you choose to make your reservation. Alternatively there are sites that have what is called a flight finder tool. On this flight finder tool you will enter the dates, destinations and times of your intended trip. As soon as you are done completing the form and you carry out a search a list of the available flights at that time will be displayed.

The flight finder also helps you compare routes, stop overs, flight times and price. So you see that international travel is not that difficult after all and you will find all this information at any one of these:

Silver Lakes Golf Estate – Gauteng in South Africa

Although Gauteng is the smallest province in South Africa, it is the financial capital and industrial hub of the country. 31 Gauteng golf courses are ranked within the Golf Digest top 100 golf courses for South Africa, and Gauteng is the main golfing hub of the country. Gauteng also has a wide selection of other tourist attractions, and is therefore the ideal destination for a golfing holiday.

A Gauteng golf holiday offers the golfer a wide variety of top rated championship golf courses which will challenge the amateur and professional alike. Golf can be played in Gauteng throughout the year because of its ideal year-round climate. The favorable South African Rand exchange rate is also attractive for tourists coming from Europe or North America. Visitors from Europe or the United States will find that the price of accommodation, restaurants and golfing green fees a fraction of what they normally would pay when converted to euros or dollars.

Many of the golf courses in Gauteng have been designed by some of legends in golf, such as Jack Nicklaus, Gary Player, Greg Norman and Ernie Els. A number of Gauteng golf courses have hosted European PGA Tour and South African Sunshine Tour events. Any Gauteng golf holiday should include the following courses:

  • Glendower Golf Club – Rated as the top golf course in Gauteng, and is one of South Africa’s most challenging and beautiful golf courses. This famous golf course has hosted numerous South African opens and is one of the older courses in South Africa. A must play for any golfer visiting Gauteng.
  • Royal Johannesburg Golf Club – ‘Royal’ contains two 18-hole courses which are considered two of the best parkland courses that Johannesburg has to offer. Rated as South Africa’s 8th best golf course, the challenging, but spectacular ‘East’ course has also hosted many South African open tournaments. Royal Johannesburg’s ‘West’ course offers a slightly easier, but a totally different type of golfing challenge, and is also ranked within South Africa’s top 30 courses.
  • Blair Atholl Golf Club – Recently opened in 2008, Blair Atholl was designed by Gary Player and it is predicted to become one of Africa’s top golf courses.

For more information on Gauteng golf courses, take a look at the GolfLinx Gauteng golf guide.

Besides its world class golf courses, Gauteng has many other attractions. Gold Reef City is a reconstruction of Johannesburg during the gold rush era, and is built around a functioning gold mine. Any visitors can observe the entire process of mining gold, and can even take a trip down an old mine shaft. Besides the gold mine, Golf Reef City has a brewery, a Victorian fun fair, pubs, hotel and tribal dancing.

The famous Cradle of Humankind, 50km southwest of Johannesburg, is a strip of dolomitic limestone caves containing the fossilized remains of ancient forms of animals, plants and most importantly, ancient human fossils. There are more than three dozen fossil-bearing caves, with some of the ancient ape-man fossils dating back 2.3 million years.

Visitors wanting to see the Big Five, which are Elephant, Lion, Leopard, Rhino and Buffalo, can visit several excellent nature reserves and game parks situated around Johannesburg and Pretoria. Besides the few tourist attractions mentioned here, there are a large variety of other tourist attractions to keep you entertained whilst you are not playing the beautiful golf courses of Gauteng.

Would You Enjoy A Restful Nights Sleep?

Monday, December 28th, 2009

What an absolutely terrible weekend it has been.

The English weather has been totally abysmal and the poor folks living in North West England certainly seem to have endured their fair share of misery this past weekend.

Personally I can’t remember a time when the rainfall was this heavy.    It seems relentless and never ending.

To try and cheer myself up I have decided to think about booking a nice relaxing break. Usually I enjoy taking action packed holidays. However, the past year has been unbelievably taxing and I am now feeling the need to escape this grotty country and go somewhere where I can be spoilt rotten and feel the stress seeping away.

I was originally looking to visit the Caribbean as there seems to be a vast array of Caribbean Spa Holidays currently on offer.    However some of the Spa Holidays in India look so beautiful that it is going to be a difficult decision to choose between the 2 destinations.   I honestly never realised there were so many spa hotels to choose from, the list is endless. It’s so hard to choose a particular hotel, as they all seem to be absolutely magnificent and each of them has it’s own charm.  However, they all seem to have in common some fantastic facilities and brilliant activities.

After reading about the classes on offer, I will definitely be booking in for a yoga class or 2. I used to attend Pilates classes a few years back and thoroughly enjoyed them.    I would imagine that Yoga is fairly similar in that it is very disciplined and controlled and makes you think about your body and how you hold yourself.

I am also going to book a place at a few of the meditation classes. My brain always seems to be on the go, especially during the night, so I feel that meditation classes would be great for me.     The trouble is I find it very hard to switch off from my work and I get really worried that I haven’t done something I should have done. Maybe when I get back from my holiday, I may have picked up a few meditation tips that will enable me to switch off and get a good nights sleep – here’s hoping!

What is so special about Vancouver?

Monday, December 28th, 2009

Africa and Egypt have the reputation for being the place where people originated and have heavily maintained the theoretical title that it holds the oldest civilizations known to man. However what if there were some contenders that haven’t really been recognised, mainly that in Canada?

It was recently discovered that there may actually have been a civilization (not very advanced) that lived in the Vancouver area over ten thousand years in the past. There is great support for this, mainly because of Canada’s Ecosystem. The ecosystem around Vancouver at this time is shown to have the properties required to support human like life. There wouldn’t be much of a problem for hunting in this case. The people that would have lived here were known as the Coast Salish, who would supposedly still have some descendants today.

However like every other country in the world, Vancouver evolved, once discovered by Europeans, industrialisation was begun. Jose Maria Narvaez sailed past the place which would become Vancouver but didn’t actually stop to survey or map it out.

George Vancouver was a British man, and he mapped out and surveyed the area where Vancouver stands now. After surveying and patrolling this area for many years, it was named after him a hundred years later. New Westminster was then named as the capital of British Columbia in 1859. Vancouver was established in 1866 when British Columbia merged with the smaller version of Vancouver.

Many people actually refer to Vancouver as being one of the most culturally diverse and accepting cities on the planet. There are more than fifty percent of people that have a first language that isn’t English. However Vancouver has something else in it’s past that trumps all others, and that is the crazy Klondike Gold rush something that really made Canada big..

So are you searching for great Canada holidays this annum, or just a vacation in general, well if you like history, then surely Vancouver holidays have to be on your list, if not then why not Toronto holidays!

A Visit to Alnmouth in Northumberland

Monday, December 28th, 2009

Video of beach and estuary at Alnmouth

First impressions of Alnmouth are usually those from the railway line or parallel road when approaching from the south.  Green meadows and ripe corn fields flow down to its broad river estuary, the other side of which lies a cheery terrace of colourful painted Victorian cottages. The sheltered estuary forms a safe anchorage for a host of diminutive craft, plus a few oats capable of venturing further out sea. This vista is framed by the ocean and a great deal of sky, sometimes as blue as the Caribbean but occasionally various shades of grey.In spite of the conditions hardly anyone can pass without commenting on the vista.  Legend has it that when Queen Victoria was on her way to Balmoral she would have the engine driver slow down the train when they reached Alnmouth so she could enjoy the vista.
Alnmouth owes its almost unique geographic situation equally to the sea and the River Aln, as both have shaped the surrounding land leaving it sitting on a narrow peninsula of land parallel with the coastline.Alnmouth could be said to be a microcosm of Northumberland’s finest coastal villages and towns.  Fabulous white beaches, huge sand dunes, fishing boats, quirky cottages and all set in largely unspoilt rolling countryside.   It only lacks its own castle but there are plenty of world-beating ones in very close proximity – Warkworth, Alnwick, Dunstanburgh and Bamburgh to name but a few.  Add to this mix a handful of cosy pubs, couple of interesting shops and some eating places proudly serving local fresh produce and you have the recipe for a wonderful holiday or short break.
Alnmouth is on the coast almost exactly mid point between the River Tyneside and Tweed making it perfect for exploring the Scottish border country and Northumbria.  Alnwick with its world famous castle and gardens is just three miles away, where you will also find the amazing Barter Book Store in the old railway station. You can choose a second hand book from one of the largest choices in Britain, then take a coffee and relax on a sofa in front of the coal fire while you sample a chapter or two.

Holiday accommodation in Alnmouth is mainly B&Bs or self catering cottages, of which there are plenty but they are also pretty busy even in winter and so advance booking is advisable. Action tourists can readily access sports such as sailing, diving, surfing, waking, biking, shooting, fishing and golf!

By car Alnmouth is five miles off the A1, it has its own station on the East Coast mainline railway and North sea ferries arrive from Norway & Holland into Newcastle, which also has its own airport.  Car hire is available at all these points of arrival.

Winter Sun Holidays in Lanzarote

Saturday, December 26th, 2009

Summer may be over in mainland Spain but there are outposts where the season never ends.  Such as the Canaries – the seven islands which are situated just off the coast of West Africa, many hundreds of miles south of the Iberian Peninsula.  A location that creates a great climate all year round.

As a result the Canaries welcome visitors throughout the year and after Catalonia are the second most popular holiday destination in Spain.  Arrivals have fallen by around 20% during 2009 thanks to the current economic crisis.  But millions of tourists will still be booking holidays in the region this autumn, despite the downturn.

The Canaries are just four hours flying time from the UK.  Making these islands the closest winter destination to sun starved Northern Europe.  And this year the cost of flights to Lanzarote are set to fall – thanks to growing competition on this route between the big guns of the low cost flight world, easyJet and Ryanair.  The latter has firmly switched their focus to the Canaries this winter and will be operating 16 new services to Lanzarote from airports across the UK.

So what can visitors expect from their winter holidays on these volcanic islands?  On Lanzarote the temperature usually remains in the early 20´s Celsius – even during the darkest days of December.  With very little rainfall and plenty of sunshine hours.  The sun doesn’t set here until 6pm at the earliest either.  Making it a great destination for those who hate the dark winter afternoons of the UK.

Accommodation standards are high – as the island has been welcoming tourists for over forty years.  Choose from chic rural hotels, budget apartments and luxury villas in Lanzarote.  With the bulk of holidays now booked direct on online thanks to the growth in internet usage over the last five years.

Naturally as in any service business the increase in demand for Lanzarote apartments and villas is good news for long and short stay visitors to Lanzarote as property owners are being driven to ensure accommodation is well furnished, and all mod cons and traditional extras are now included gratis

Playa Blanca is the resort to head for if you’re planning a winter break on the island.  As thanks to it’s southerly location it enjoys the best weather and most sunshine hours.  As well as boasting some of the best beaches on the island.  There’s a decent selection of villas in Playa Blanca for holidaymakers to choose from too.  With high quality rental properties available in areas such as Rubicon Marina and Costa Papagayo.  And with prices starting from around £400 per week for a standard two bedroom villa with pool.

The island is a great all year holiday destination with many outstanding resorts. Follow the links for even more information about Playa Blanca villas in particular or other Lanzarote villas and apartments.
