Secure a Car parking Space with your Apartment

Tuesday, June 9th, 2009

Make sure you read the contract thoroughly before you sign the agreement for the apartment that you have chosen to live in.Make sure you are aware of all the additional fees and clauses many landlords tend to add to their contracts before you sign on the dotted line.

The previous month’s rent is an additional clause or fee that many landlords include in their contracts. As there are many people who tend to break their leases without informing the landlord, many landlords include this fee as a security.By adding this clause in the agreement, the landlord has a minimum of 30 days to spare before finding the  next tenant and their rental payments.

You can omit this clause from the contract if you have no intentions of breaking the lease without informing the landlord, and are punctual in your payments. However, unlike the security deposit the landlord collects from you, this charge is not refundable.

You may have to pay a pet deposit, if you own a pet. This amount is collected by the landlord as a form of insurance against the damages that the pet may cause in the apartment when you stay in it.Some landlords also collect pet fees every month to cover the costs and inconveniences that the pet causes.

You will need to get some renters insurance if you are renting an apartment. You never know when you could be looking at damage because of a theft and other accidents. However, with this insurance, you are covered with protection against theft and even fire and water damage.

You may have to pay for a confirmed parking spot for your car, if you own one that is.Instead of parking your car in the street every day, you have a safe place to park it with this option. With so many additional fees and costs associated with renting an apartment, make sure you will be able to afford them before signing the contract.

Best Advice For Reducing Your Motion Sickness On Cruises

Monday, June 8th, 2009

Motion sickness stops thousands of people from enjoying a lovely cruise holiday every year. motion sickness can present itself in lots of different forms and levels of severity but its safe to say that it is always unpleasant when it does happen. It often makes you feel terrible for a long time and unable to enjoy yourself. So what are the best ways to stop your luxury cruise being ruined?

1.) Position of your cabin. When you book your cruise, tell the agent that you suffer from motion sickness and they will locate you cabin nearer to the centre of the ship. This will minimise the amount of movement that your cabin experiences, even on mild river cruises and will dramatically reduce the chances of feeling ill.

2.) Eating ginger. Ginger has been a motion sickness preventive for many many years. It is contains a natural ingredient that reduces the gag-reflex signals that the brain sends to the stomach and can often prevent you being sick. It will not get rid of your nausea feelings how, so you might need something else to combat this.

3.) Walking about. It sounds simple but it really can work. One of the reasons that we get sea sick is that the brain is not accustomed to the movement of being on a boat. If you stay on your feet have a good walk around on the deck, you’ll begin to find you ‘sea legs’ and your sensory system will start to learn the strange movement

4.) Motion sickness tablets. This is probably the most widespread method and arguable the most effective at reducing motion sickness. These tablets reduce the amount of signals sent to the brain from movement sensors around the body, having the effect of minimizing nausea. This unfortuantly has the side effect of often making you feel drowsy so be careful which activities you take part in. You should take motion sickness tablets ideally a couple of hours before you start the cruise to allow the ingredients to get into the blood stream. This will prevent your travel sickness from getting a chance to build up at all.

Ships nowadays are sometimes fitted with very good motion stabilising systems, for an example of this please go to Oceania Cruise

London Tours More Popular Than Ever

Sunday, June 7th, 2009

The volume of UK tourists visiting London seems to be growing as many budget conscious holiday makers are chosing to holiday closer to home rather than go abroad as the global recession bites into holiday savings.

Whilst the terrible world recession has affected all kinds of holiday and travel related sales including both domestic and foreign vacations, London seems to have profited in terms of a marked increase in UK citizens visiting its attractions.

Graham Powell of London tours company, Country Travel Tours, says: “We’ve definitely noticed an increase in demand for our London tour guide service and more than ever our customers are UK residents, many even local to London.

As well as an increase in London tours, London’s museums and galleries have reported increases in visitor numbers. This trend has also spread to the rest of the UK and is thought to be a result of a decrease in people’s disposable income and a view that a cheap or even free visit to the local museum is a good alternative to an expensive night out on the town.

One interesting twist on this apparent good news is that most London hotels are reporting declining occupancy levels which would seem to contradict any apparent influx in domestic visitors to London. However many believe that this is simply indicative of the nature of the visits to London. Graham Powell explains: “What we have been seeing is more day trippers coming to London rather than say week long holiday makers using our London tour service. Also a lot of people tell us they are staying with relatives either in or close to London as opposed to booking paid accommodation in the city.”

London tour guides guides and museums aside, for many suffering business reliant on tourism in London the 2012 Olympics cant come soon enough.

Vacations on a Budget

Sunday, June 7th, 2009

Travelling on a budget takes a little more planning and preperation but will save you hundreds of dollars compared to typical vacations with hotels and expensive meals and attractions. Depending on what you wish to see and how much you plan on spending, you can have an awesome time. Traveling in the United States can be cheaper than you think; all it requires is planning and timing. There are a variety of options for vacations in which you have fun but save money at the same time. Your budget vacation can be one to remember or one to forget, it just depends on how much planning and effort you put into it.

We are lucky within the United States to live in a coutnry with such a wide range of stunning landscapes and scenery. National parks have been protected as they contain some of the world’s most stunning and natural scenery. Typically there is a nominal entry fee per vehicle. Most national parks offer camping facilities at a low nightly cost which afford guests with the basic necessities, such as pay showers (around $2 for an 8 minute shower), coin laundry, clean restrooms, and supply stores nearby. One great way to see the land for cheap is to bring self-contained accommodation, such as tents, RVs, and campers. RV facilities are available at most national parks for a bit higher of a fee; these sites afford the basic hook-ups for travel trailers and motor homes.

Camping provides further savings as cooking yourself avoid paying for expensive hotel or restaurant meals. Cook your meals using facilities provided, in your RV or over a camp fire; having a camp fire is a big part of the fun and cooking your own food will save you compared to eating out. Holiday accommodation, including hotel rooms, camp sites and more can be found year round in many national parks.

America’s national parks such as Yosemite, the Rocky Mountains, Grand Canyon, Zion or Yellowstone offer natures best scenery at almost no cost. Once you pay to enter the Grand Canyon, you can see the views, hike into the canyon, and see the various features and animals for free. The only costs involved are extra activities, camping, food, and gas. Extra activities include things like boating, renting canoes, fishing, renting ATVs, and horseback riding. Those things, for the most part, come at little cost; the only expensive things on the list are ATVs and renting boats. You and your entire family will amazed by the picturesque, rustic settings and the adventure of seeing some of nature’s finest.  A camping trip to a national park is one budget vacation that will be remembered forever!

Vacationing is never that inexpensive, however, there are things that can be done to keep costs down. Camping and motor homes are two ways in which travelers save on accommodations. Barbecues and sandwich/ drink coolers are two ideas to save money on food costs while traveling. Keep the activities simple by doing things like fishing, hiking, canoeing, and sight-seeing, which will keep costs down.

Richard Greenwood heads up holiday accommodation booking site MakeMyStay.com.au which features quality holiday homes and apartments including Surfers Paradise holiday apartments and Sunshine Coast holiday apartments.
