Disney and Universal are two different companies. You can look at packages on each website individually, but if you by a package you must at each one’s resort. They are fairly close together, so if you have a car, driving to one from the other isn’t a big deal. However, I don’t recommend staying at a Universal hotel while going to Disney for the bulk of your stay. You can do Universal to death in 2-3 days. I’d stay onsite at Disney or stay offsite. http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/1429305/walt_disney_world_vacation_how_to_decide.html?cat=9 can help you decide which works better for you. If you stay offsite, check out http://www.mousesavers.com for good deals on hotels off property.

Now, as far as tickets go, you have lots of options. A park hopper refers to Disney only and it’s an option. In order to keep this post short, you can get great details at http://hubpages.com/hub/How-To-Buy-a-Walt-Disney-World-Ticket on how to pick the right ticket. To summarize though, a hopper lets you go to more than one of Disney’s 4 major theme parks in a single day. For each day you’d need another ticket. The more days you have, the less each day costs.

You can purchase Disney tickets straight from Disney and Universal tickets straight from Universal. Authorized discount ticket brokers can give you a good deal. Some of these are Undercover Tourist (especially if booked from the MouseSaver Newsletter), Maple Leaf Tickets and TheOfficialTicketCenter.com. Also AAA and Tickets at Work, if your employer participates.

If you want to stay onsite and want a full package, I’d book by 3/29 and use the buy 4, get 3 deal as long as you’ll be onsite at least 5 nights. Again, to keep this post shorter, see http://www.trifter.com/USA-&-Canada/Florida/Understanding-Walt-Disney-Worlds-Buy-4-Get-3-Free-Deal.506373 for a good explanation. There are also some room only discount codes out there for discounts Sun-Thur night stays. Those are listed at http://www.mousesavers.com

You may or may not benefit from the dining plan at Disney. You must stay onsite at Disney and book a package. However, as many people that find this a good deal, don’t find this a good deal. To figure out which is best for you see http://www.trifter.com/USA-&-Canada/Florida/Evaluating-Disneys-Dining-Plans.468035 so this post is shorter than it otherwise would be.

http://www.dreamsunlimitedtravel.com/universal/ is the best deal I can find for Universal tickets.

Park Hopper refers to the Disney parks only. You can get a park hopper option added on to your tickets that allows you to visit more than one Disney park in one day.

I purchase everything separate when I am staying off site. We stay at the Seralago hotel in Kissimmee on Bronson Blvd. As for the tickets I search all the sites to find the best price right now the cheapest is kgstickets.com the cost for 5 days park hopper is 755. You can usually get a good deal on a hotel through there web site.

I don’t recommend buying tickets from anyone except an authorized dealer. There’s lots of ticket scams, because there’s no way to tell by looking if a ticket is valid or not.

    So I recommend AAA, http://www.mapleleaftickets.com or http://www.undercovertourist.com

Universal’s tickets are separate from Disney – there is no one who has a package deal that includes them all-in-one.

You don’t have to buy a park hopper to go to more than one park. The park hopper means you can go to multiple Disney parks in one DAY. You can buy multi-day tickets without the hopper option and save $50.
